Check back soon, an important update (wordpress thumbnail feature and version checker) is rolling out to all Zenverse themes, starting from the latest theme.

Recommendations for User

Manual Excerpt

To make your blog looks better, you need to include a manual excerpt for every post (like my blog). You can add that while editing or adding new post. You can, however, leave your excerpt empty and wordpress will automatically make an excerpt for you, but all HTML tags would be auto removed.

Post Image & Thumbnails

Post Thumbnail is a square image of size 125 x 125 pixels, shown at blog index, related posts and search.
Post Image is an image of size 550 x 190 pixels, shown at single post page, below the post title.
To beautify your blog, try to include post thumbnails for every post (if possible).

Featured Category

In most cases, not all your featured posts are in the same category. You can create a new category (let’s say I called it : Featured) and choose it as the “Featured Category” at the theme option page.
Step-by-step guide to activate Featured Gallery

WP-PageNavi Plugin Conflict

Some users reported that WP-PageNavi plugin causes the sidebar and footer to be missing. If you have WP-PageNavi plugin installed, you should either deactivate the plugin or remove the built-in WP-PageNavi plugin to avoid conflict.

Notes

1. You need to install flickrRSS plugin to show your flickr photos at footer.

Kevin says:

Working good now, I needed to clear my cache for my browser I guess. I swore I refreshed several times and saw no change…. bah i feel like a noob now.

Awesome theme =)

Helen says:

how can I show exerpts on some featured post and full on others ?

zen says:

@Helen, that would need modifications to the files.

Helen says:

@Helen, so how can i go about it? any hints?

zen says:

@Helen, maybe you can create a custom field called ‘showfullpost’ (with a certain value, lets say: “1″) on your posts that you want to display full post at index.

Then at index.php, you check every post for the custom field ‘showfullpost’. If any post has value 1, the_content(); is used instead of the_excerpt();

Helen says:

Ok if that is too hard – how do i resize the featured pictures at the top of the page to show a standard landscape size? take a look and see what I mean. The size of the featured picture is quite strange.

Helen says:

@Helen, well I;ve decided to remove it for a little while – seems that getting a picture for the 500 px x 150px is too hard for me

zen says:

@Helen, alright I saw you removed it. Err sorry, what is landscape size anyway?

Helen says:

@Helen, i’ve put it back so you can take a look at the dimensions

zen says:

@Helen, so it is 285 x 190 pixels.

Due to display problem in MSIE, the frame at the gallery is made using image instead of CSS. So you can’t change it using CSS.

You should create a new image frame, make your featured image align to left and expand the width of excerpt area.

Helen says:

@Helencreate a new image frame – how is that done?

zen says:

@Helen, using image manipulation programs like adobe photoshop. Cheers.

Helen says:

@Helen, can you point me to an article or instructions on how it is done?

zen says:

@Helen, sorry I don’t think there is any guide written specificly for this.

ppgt says:

Hi Zen…

Great theme! But im having some problems with it and hoping you can help…

the problem is categories.. can u see may website please? do you know why this is happening?

thank`s..

zen says:

@ppgt, your site is down.

ppgt says:

@ppgt,

its ok now.. :)

Jesus says:

I love it! i’m using it already!

Richard says:

This is a great theme, the one I’m using currently.
My only problem is that there is no “share on facebook” button like there is for twitter, digg, StumbleUpon, etc., at the end of the blog post. I am using a plugin to handle it for me, but a button would be great.
Thanks!
-Richard

zen says:

@Richard, maybe in future version.

Richard says:

@Zen, Thanks for the quick response, looking forward to it.

zen says:

@Richard, sorry it took so long. I forgot about this matetr :)

Added facebook button in latest version 1.3.4

Helen says:

when navigating from the categories comments or posts view on the sidebar the posts that show – the date is slightly obscured by the read more tag – how can this be fixed

zen says:

@Helen,
1. open style.css
2. Look for these :

.date {
color:#aaaaaa;
font-size:12px;
font-weight:normal;
margin:0 auto;
width:123px;
height:15px;
}

3. Replace the width:123px; with width:133px;

Helen says:

thanks for the fix… does your theme support custom page templates?

zen says:

@Helen, yes. In fact, every theme support custom page template, you just have to paste the template file in the theme folder.

Adrián Rodríguez Iglesias says:

Hello,
It’s a great theme… but I don’t know how use the thumbnail feature…
thanks!

zen says:

@Adrián Rodríguez Iglesias, at my blog post (above), look under “recommendations for users” > “featured category”, you will find a link to the guide.

radiossina says:

hi zen
i created a blog with your amazing theme….very usefull
only one things…i would to remove the “copyright symbol 2009″ in the footer of the theme.
can u help me to locate it?
very thanx

p.s.= i’ll never remove your personal design instruction

zen says:

@radiossina, looks like you’ve found it. Cheers :)

Semmie says:

I loveeeee this theme! i use it right now.. only one question, how can i set the page in the middle? cause in Firefox it’s perfect, but in IE it’s showing left and not in the middle, must i change something in the CSS?
.-= Semmie´s last blog ..Full episode 6: Kourtney & Khloe Kardashians: Take Miami =-.

zen says:

@Semmie, what version of IE? I don’t have the problem so i can’t fix it.

Semmie says:

@Semmie,

I have version 8.0 and i asked a few friends of mine too check it if they got it too.. and yes they also see it at the left and not in the middle

Screenshot:
http://i38.tinypic.com/rshd6w.jpg

maybe it’s the difference with the IE versions i dont know, but i dont had this with my previous themes.

But in the css is everything set to middle?

Semmie says:

@Zen,

I tested it on IE 8 & IE 7 and i see that’s it only happen on IE 7. well yea it’s not a big problem, thanks :)

zen says:

@Semmie, althoug hit was just a small problem, I have to fix it too.

Open style.css, try removing the "html," from this lines (line 13)

html, body {
padding:0px;
margin:0 auto;
font-size:12px;
font-family:Calibri, "Lucida Grande", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
background-color:#2d2d2d;
width:1000px;
color:#eeeeee;
}

See if it works. Thanks.

Semmie says:

@Zen,

Thank you very much!
it’s working now… yea it’s sometimes difficult with IE & Firefox.

But it’s fixed!

Semmie says:

@Semmie,

I thought it was fixed.. but now only the header is on the left.

Everything is ok, except for the header that is still on the left.

Something else in the css?

Semmie says:

@Zen,

Girl OMG! well everything is ok now.. sorry for so much comments. but it works good now!

I think it was the cookies or sum for the header.. but it’s ok now :)

So the “Html” thing was the problem, it’s fixed.

radiossina says:

yeesssssssssssss!!!!cheers too

Nat says:

Just had to give you props, this is the theme I have been looking for! It’s beautiful!

Nat says:

Is there anyway to move the search bar at the top?

zen says:

@Nat, yes. You can move it using css or remove it at header.php

VG113 says:

Hey, thanks for the awesome temp…is there anyway to get something like you have for the follow my updates type of thing where I cant set the rss, twitter, email, and facebook with the icons, like you have on your site?

zen says:

@VG113, I got two follow updates menu. Did you mean the one at the sidebar or single post (this page)?

FOTN says:

I’m enjoying using this theme. A couple of things I was wondering – is it possible to make the links /text next to the ‘featured’ articles at the top of the page clickable? At the moment nothing happens unless I click the picture.

Also, can I remove the number of posts I have in the categories section. i.e. at the moment it says ‘News (17 posts)’ I’d prefer it just to say ‘News’ if possible?

zen says:

@FOTN,

Oh, I will fix that in version 1.3.1 or 1.4. At the mean time, open style.css, look for .grad and add display:none to it.

To remove the number of posts, open sidebar.php, go to line 12 and find this part:

$zv_tab_cat = wp_list_categories('echo=0&show_count=1&title_li=&use_desc_for_title=1');
$zv_tab_cat = preg_replace("/\(([0-9]{1,})\)/", '  ($1 posts)', $zv_tab_cat);

Replace it with:

$zv_tab_cat = wp_list_categories('echo=0&title_li=&use_desc_for_title=1');
//$zv_tab_cat = preg_replace("/\(([0-9]{1,})\)/", '  ($1 posts)', $zv_tab_cat);

FOTN says:

Sorry to bother you again but I tried the code you gave me to remove the number of posts and it didn’t seem to make any difference. Could you confirm the code definitely works? Thanks!

zen says:

@FOTN, of course it works.

If you want to know what the edits above are for:

For line #1 : the “&show_count=1″ is removed from the wp_list_categories() functions so that number of post is not shown.

Line #2 : Putting double slashes in front of the line is making the line as comment. You can remove the whole line #2 you you want.

Do you have plugins like WP Super Cache installed?

FOTN says:

“Do you have plugins like WP Super Cache installed?”

I don’t believe so…should I?

zen says:

@FOTN, no.

Make sure everything you edit was correct.

FOTN says:

Great, thanks a lot for your time.

jan says:

This is my friend’s site, I made the header and fixed a few things. One question … with showing full posts, there is no date display for each post. I think I see where it should be, but no idea the code.

Is there a fix that will allow the date to show on each post?

Thanks!

zen says:

@jan, the code that shows time is <?php the_time('j F Y'); ?>

Put it at whereever you want.

I will add that in version 1.3.3.

jan says:

@jan,
thanks, but that’s not the fix I need. I probably wasn’t clear.
She has chosen to show FULL posts on the main page, not excerpts with thumbnails.
However, when full posts are selected as an option, the date and time does not show up on each post on the main page. Only when you click through to the individual post does it show up.
My question is – how do I get the date/time to show up for each post on the MAIN page. I guess it would go somewhere under the post title, but I can’t find where I would put it in the CSS, nor the code I would use.
Thank you so much for your help! It’s a great template!!

zen says:

@jan, you don’t understand. You can’t add the date using CSS. I’ve told you the codes needed in my previous reply. You have to add “< ?php the_time('j F Y'); ?>” in the template files. Anyway, I submitted version 1.3.3 to wordpress. Just need to wait for approval.

jan says:

@zen,
div class=”date” style=”float:left;margin-left:10px;”></div

Linn says:

Hi,
The links in the Featured box only works for the first post. first I thought I messed up the code but then i noticed its the same both on your demo and on other sites. Any idea how to fix this? I have the problem in firefox and I asked some friends to try if it worked better for them, but they had the same problem (also i ff i think).

zen says:

@Linn, what version of lunated you are using? That problem was fixed in version 1.3.2.

Also, my version of lunated is 1.0 so it has the problem. I upgraded mine. All my links are clickable now.

Linn says:

@Zen, I upgraded tp 1.3.3 now, I had 1.3.2 before. But the links still doesn’t work. The picture is clickable but not the text, (except for the first post).

zen says:

@Linn, you are using the theme or previewing it using a plugin?

I am asking this because when I preview lunated using my WordPress Theme Demo Bar plugin, i had the problem, the tooltip script is causing the problem.

Let me see your site if possible.

jan says:

LMAO! Obviously I can’t make the proper code appear here without the comments page rearranging it :)
My bad!
Kindly delete my comment that makes no sense and is taking up your page. LOL!

zen says:

@jan, I can’t even see your codes in the HTML source. I guess wordpress removed them. For this, I created a plugin just now, you can now write source codes using [code][/code] tag.

Need people to test this plugin anyway XD

RPad says:

I’m having problems inserting adsense code in place of the ad boxes in the sidebar. When insert the code, nothing shows up. It’s a gray box in Chrome and blank box in IE.

zen says:

@RPad, do you have any ad-blocking software installed? for example: Spybot S&D

Maybe you can try other sites with google ads?

RPad says:

@RPad,

The Google ads in the other spots are working.

DJ Rg says:

springfeldt says:

hello, great theme. i use it on http://www.springfeldt.de

post images on pages (like sitemap in my navigation bar) are not shown!? what am i doing wrong?

zen says:

@springfeldt, you are not doing anything wrong. I totally missed that part. Will fix that in version 1.3.5.

Thank you.

RPad says:

Also, is there any way to change the order of the tabbed menu? I’d like the comments to appear first.

zen says:

@RPad, nope. You have to change it manually in sidebar.php

elvis says:

hi Zen,,ty for the greatfull themes..

but, can u help me how to earse/remove the topsearch bar?

ty.

zen says:

@elvis, open header.php and remove this part:

<div id="topsearch"><div class="topsearchbg"></div><div class="topsearchfake"><form action="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>/" style="display:inline"><input type="text" value="<?php the_search_query(); ?>" name="s" class="topsearchtext" /><input class="topsearchsubmit" type="image" value="" src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/images/searchsubmit.gif" /></form></div></div><!--/topsearch-->

You should ask support question in the forums.

KMarshall says:

Can you make posts sticky with this theme? Thanks!

zen says:

@KMarshall, of course. In fact all themes can have sticky posts because it is not theme-dependent.

elvis says:
