Check back soon, an important update (wordpress thumbnail feature and version checker) is rolling out to all Zenverse themes, starting from the latest theme.

Recommendations for User

Manual Excerpt

To make your blog looks better, you need to include a manual excerpt for every post (like my blog). You can add that while editing or adding new post. You can, however, leave your excerpt empty and wordpress will automatically make an excerpt for you, but all HTML tags would be auto removed.

Post Image & Thumbnails

Post Thumbnail is a square image of size 125 x 125 pixels, shown at blog index, related posts and search.
Post Image is an image of size 550 x 190 pixels, shown at single post page, below the post title.
To beautify your blog, try to include post thumbnails for every post (if possible).

Featured Category

In most cases, not all your featured posts are in the same category. You can create a new category (let’s say I called it : Featured) and choose it as the “Featured Category” at the theme option page.
Step-by-step guide to activate Featured Gallery

WP-PageNavi Plugin Conflict

Some users reported that WP-PageNavi plugin causes the sidebar and footer to be missing. If you have WP-PageNavi plugin installed, you should either deactivate the plugin or remove the built-in WP-PageNavi plugin to avoid conflict.

Notes

1. You need to install flickrRSS plugin to show your flickr photos at footer.

Hi Zen, I found your theme today and love all the features. The subscribe by email won’t hook up when I add my details in the theme options even though I have this function activated in my feedburner account. I’d really love to have it enabled for my blog. Any ideas? I’ll be happy to buy you a coffee for your support.

Thanks, Ange

@Ange Recchia, thanks for notifying me about this matter.

It will be fixed in version 1.1.3.

At the mean time, to manually fix that, open the theme’s sidebar.php at admin panel > Appearance > Editor

Search for

<form action="http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify" method="post" target="popupwindow"

Replace the method="post" with method="get".

Cheers :)

@Ange Recchia,

Thanks, that is working now :)

The Feedcount button isn’t showing either. The html code is pasted in but I can’t see it under the subscribe to email option.

One more thing I’d like to ask is if it is possible to have the Flickr widget in the bottom right hand side of the footer like you do with this theme? It looks a lot cleaner than sitting between posts and footer.

Thanks Zen, and for the quick reply too :)

@Ange Recchia, aww totally missed that part.

Edit sidebar.php again, replace all contents with this.

I submitted the new updated theme to wordpress, but it usually take 24 hours for them to approve =x

Regarding the position of Flickr widget, you need to wait for version 1.2. Because I need to edit the file and structure, I will do it tomorrow :)

Cheers.

Hi Zen,

I love this theme and am currently using it for my site. I think everything is working except that when I try to access posts in my older archives, even though there’s an excerpt, nothing comes up when you click read more. Some posts actually lead to others, which then don’t open. See specifically December or October of 2007.

Any ideas on how to fix this? If I install other themes, the text is there. But I want to use yours!!

Thanks,

Steph

I love your theme and I am using it for my site. I have one small problem though. I was wondering why the site hadn;t been indexed after being live for a few days so I looked at the source code.

In the WP Head section there is a robots meta tag for noindex, nofollow.

Despite going through every file in the them I couldn’t see where the theme was pulling this meta tag from. Obviously I want my site to be indexed so if you can tell me where to get rid of the tag I will be very grateful.

@Helen, maybe you can create a custom field called ‘showfullpost’ (with a certain value, lets say: “1″) on your posts that you want to display full post at index.

Then at index.php, you check every post for the custom field ‘showfullpost’. If any post has value 1, the_content(); is used instead of the_excerpt();

Due to display problem in MSIE, the frame at the gallery is made using image instead of CSS. So you can’t change it using CSS.

This is a great theme, the one I’m using currently.
My only problem is that there is no “share on facebook” button like there is for twitter, digg, StumbleUpon, etc., at the end of the blog post. I am using a plugin to handle it for me, but a button would be great.
Thanks!

I’m enjoying using this theme. A couple of things I was wondering – is it possible to make the links /text next to the ‘featured’ articles at the top of the page clickable? At the moment nothing happens unless I click the picture.

Also, can I remove the number of posts I have in the categories section. i.e. at the moment it says ‘News (17 posts)’ I’d prefer it just to say ‘News’ if possible?

Author Sep 27, 2009
8:48 AM
#121 zen :

@FOTN,

Oh, I will fix that in version 1.3.1 or 1.4. At the mean time, open style.css, look for .grad and add display:none to it.

To remove the number of posts, open sidebar.php, go to line 12 and find this part:

$zv_tab_cat = wp_list_categories('echo=0&show_count=1&title_li=&use_desc_for_title=1');
$zv_tab_cat = preg_replace("/\(([0-9]{1,})\)/", ' ($1 posts)', $zv_tab_cat);

Replace it with:

$zv_tab_cat = wp_list_categories('echo=0&title_li=&use_desc_for_title=1');
//$zv_tab_cat = preg_replace("/\(([0-9]{1,})\)/", ' ($1 posts)', $zv_tab_cat);

#124 zen :

@FOTN, of course it works.

If you want to know what the edits above are for:

For line #1 : the “&show_count=1″ is removed from the wp_list_categories() functions so that number of post is not shown.

Line #2 : Putting double slashes in front of the line is making the line as comment. You can remove the whole line #2 you you want.

@jan,
thanks, but that’s not the fix I need. I probably wasn’t clear.
She has chosen to show FULL posts on the main page, not excerpts with thumbnails.
However, when full posts are selected as an option, the date and time does not show up on each post on the main page. Only when you click through to the individual post does it show up.
My question is – how do I get the date/time to show up for each post on the MAIN page. I guess it would go somewhere under the post title, but I can’t find where I would put it in the CSS, nor the code I would use.
Thank you so much for your help! It’s a great template!!

@jan, you don’t understand. You can’t add the date using CSS. I’ve told you the codes needed in my previous reply. You have to add “< ?php the_time('j F Y'); ?>” in the template files. Anyway, I submitted version 1.3.3 to wordpress. Just need to wait for approval.

Great theme and thank you for providing free tech support for this. I will certainly consider zenverse the next time I need a paid theme. Seriously!

I’m helping out a friend with some size changes to the theme. She wants to make the main post image that’s 550 x 190 to a more squarish dimension say 550 x 400. Is that a edit that I can do? I know how to change the Theme Functions text to say a certain dimension, but this kinda global change I can’t seem to figure out. Please help.

Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply even though your date say Jan 25?. Is version 1.4.4 the version that you can change the size of the main post image? I’m really anxoius to get that update or know how to change the size with php and css.

Thanks,
Jay

Any word on changing the proportions of the main post image? Updates? If not, how do you change it?

Thanks,
Drew

Thank you for giving it for free, just installed it on http://www.bestfreeandroidapps.com/ – I do have a question though, is it possible to add 2 buttons/links above the posts on the index page that say “Sort by popularity” and “Sort by Date”?

Great theme!

I have aquestion I hope you can answer!

How do you increase the image size in a gallery to show the full image size? Right now, it shows a smaller size of images. I would also like to know if there is a way that one would click the image so that it would automatically go to the next one.

Please help! Appreciate it immensely!

(Correction: Please delete previous comment. It wasn’t clear enough. Thank you!)

Great theme!

I have a question I hope you can answer:

How do you show the larger version of an image from the gallery AFTER someone clicks on the thumbnail? Right now, after I click a photo from the gallery, it forwards me to a page showing a smaller size of the image. Is there a way to modify this?

Also, I would like to know if there is a way to automatically go to the next photo after clicking on the photo.

Please help! Appreciate it immensely!

Hey,

Here I am again with more questions. First question is: How do I get the related posts on my pages as well? I use the pages ( without sidebar ) for high quality galleries, but the related posts don’t show there. The share buttons etc. work on the pages but the related posts do not. I understand pages and posts cannot be related on tags since the pages don’t have any, but I always link the page from a post so the same related posts could be used.

Is there a way to get the related posts at the bottom of pages as well? I would have to exclude some pages though ( contact, about, etc )

Question two: I’m looking for a way to change the Widgets in the footer, the widgets present now are standard and cannot be changed. I would like to insert new widgets there.

Question Three: When enabling/disabling widgets in the lunated options ( like RSS feed, recent comments/latest posts tab ) I cannot set the order of the widgets. I can’t decide which is more important and should be placed higher on the page. Why is this not possible? :(

I’ve been using the theme for almost a year now, I really hope more features ( like the ones above ) will be added so I can keep using the theme for another year or even more =)

Kind regards,

Chris

#206 Numaga :

Question 4: I use a plugin called “page links to” so posts get re-directed to the pages that hold the galleries. Sadly when someone comments on that page, the post is still saying no comments (on the front-page).

I’m using that same plugin with the Suffusion theme on another website of mine and there it somehow blends comments from the posts and pages together ( when the “page links to” url is given in the post )

The plugin makes sure that everything in the post links to wherever you like, even if they click the title, the read more or the thumbnail, everything will link to the url you desire.

I know this might be difficult to implement but if you can help me get this done I would be very thankful ;)

Hi Zen,

If you add the option to enable “Related Posts” on pages as well, and also the possibility to change the order of the lunated widgets (combined with the other widgets) i might just send over another donation =)

If you need more info, contact me plz.

Regards,

Chris

Hi! Do you know if they make any plugins to assist with SEO?
I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted keywords but I’m not seeing very good results.
If you know of any please share. Many thanks!

Its such as you learn my mind! You appear to understand so much approximately this, like you wrote the
book in it or something. I believe that you just could do with some % to power the message house a little bit, but instead of that, this is magnificent blog. A great read. I’ll certainly be back.
